TIRASPOL, April 2 (AFP) - A late goal from Mark van Bommel earned the Netherlands a 2-1 win over Moldova in this Euro 2004 Group Three qualifer here on Wednesday.
Vadim Boret had put Moldova ahead with Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy levelling for the Oranje in the 37th minute.
The match was heading for a draw until van Bommel´s goal six minutes from time.
The result left the Dutch equal on 10 points with the Czech Republic but placed second with an inferior goal difference.
The win stretched the Dutch side´s unbeaten run to 13 matches, their last defeat coming on September 1 2001 when they were beaten by Ireland knocking them out of the World Cup in the qualifying stage.
